Bhramasree Suryan Subramanian Bhattathiripad the present chief of the mana has made several revolutionary changes in the existing traditional pattern. According to the caste system which prevailed in Kerala, only brahmins could enter into a mana or the place of worship like temple. During the period of Gandhiji & Kelappan renowned freedom fighters, these discriminating rule became relaxed and people were allowed to enter into the temple. But most of the bramin manas remain unapproachable to the untouchables even now. In such a situation the present chief made a drastic step by announcing entry for all caste into mana to participate in the poojas or for worship. He has given the public an opportunity to participate in the Vinayaka Chathurthi Celebrations. His innovative idea ‘Ganga Pravaham’ has gone a long way in spreading awareness about the sanctity of the rivers. He has introduced several cultural programmes in connection with Vinayaka Chathurthi.
